Nonprofit attacks high veteran unemployment rate, provides vocational training funding

Chicago, IL Vet2Tech provides scholarship funding to veterans for online vocational training. Taking aim at the climbing unemployment rates of veterans, Vet2Tech strives to hone and advance skills learned in the military into well-matched careers in the civilian workforce. The commercial foodservice industry is the second largest industry in the United States. The industry relies on well-trained service technicians to keep the equipment in their businesses running efficiently. Currently, there are 15,000 job openings, nationwide, for qualified candidates. These careers offer competitive salaries, benefits, and outstanding growth potential.

Vet2Tech’s scholarship challenge will help five career-driven veterans kick off the New Year with a new job by providing full scholarships ($1,495 value each) to the TechU24/7 “CFESA: Basic Technician Training program.” Applications are being accepted through Friday, Jan. 31.

Applicants will be judged on a variety of factors including past experience, their application essay as well as phone interview. More information about how to apply can be found here.

TechU24/7, powered by Ignitor Labs, in partnership with the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA) has developed an online training program that teaches the fundamental skills needed to become entry-level service technicians. The online program can be completed in as little as thirty days and every graduate is guaranteed a job interview with one of more than 800 hiring companies nationwide.
